through imitating a research institution, 𝘗𝘈𝘙 𝘐𝘋: 416869 explores the twin as being a sought after study object in medical epidemiology.
in medical science it is necessary to differentiate between what is genetically inherited and what is caused by environmental factors. because of the identical twins shared genetic set-up they have become a valuable commodity as objects of study, with extensive archives dedicated to keeping image, video and text records of how the twins differ or are alike. by hijacking the discourse of the twin, and reversing the scientific lens, an alternative double-image is created. in a pseudo-scientific process the archives are remediated into an artwork, with the virtual copy of the twin as an entry into the cloud storage unit ready to be pulled out for facial recognition, identity analysis or medical control measurements.

the work highlight the societal scientific and technological motivations behind the interfering studies of twins. it asks questions of how individuality manifests, where boundaries of privacy is drawn and why a western society value uniqueness so highly in a society where conformity is forced upon everyone.

𝘗𝘈𝘙 𝘐𝘋:416869 was exhibited at the Swedish Twin Registry of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institute, where Clara & Julia engaged in discussions with the institution's researchers surrounding themes such as twin research
and its possible consequences.
